Organizations based at the library are the Friends of the Library and the Motley County Genealogical and Historical Society. The Friends of the Library meets the first Thursday of February, May, August, and November at 4:30 P.M. in the library. As a money-making project, the Friends sell the popular Texas Capitol Ornaments, with proceeds going to benefit the Library.
The Genealogical and Historical Society meets the third Tuesday of each month at 2:00 P.M. in the library. This society is committed to enlarging the holdings of the genealogy section of the Motley County Library. Also, the society publishes a semi-annual newsletter, Sands of Time, that features historical and genealogical information about Motley and surrounding counties.
